According to the Tourism Society of Britain, “tourism is the temporary movement of people for short periods of time to destinations outside the places where they usually live, work; and activities during their stay at the destination.” This definition includes the movement of people for all purposes.
These people are called visitors (who can be tourists or excursionists; residents or non-residents) and tourism relates to their activities, some of which involve tourism expenditure.
Different types of tourism can be recognized depending on the length of stay, mode of paulotouristcentre transport used, distance traveled, purpose of travel and price paid by tourists. Broadly speaking, there are four main types of tourism, namely: (i) international tourism, (ii) domestic tourism, (iii) long-distance tourism, and (v) short-distance tourism.
Domestic Tourism: Domestic tourism consists of the activities of visitors who reside in the reference country, either as part of a domestic tourism trip or as part of an outbound tourism trip.
Domestic Tourism – Community tourism activities within the country itself are known as domestic tourism. Traveling within the same country is easier as it does not require formal travel documents and tedious formalities such as mandatory health checks and foreign exchange. In domestic tourism, a traveler generally does not face many language problems or currency exchange problems.
This relates to travel within the country. It does not require passports and visas or conversion of one currency to another. Domestic tourism has a greater scope in large dimensional countries like India compared to small countries. From a geographical point of view, domestic tourism can range from local travel, regional travel to national level travel.

International tourism: International tourism consists of inbound tourism and outbound tourism, that is, the activities of resident visitors outside the reference country, either as part of a domestic or outbound tourism trip and the activities of non-resident visitors within the reference country. on inbound tourist trips.
International Tourism – When people visit a foreign country, it is called as International Tourism. To travel abroad, one needs a valid passport, visa, health documents, foreign exchange, etc.
International Tourism: An international tourist crosses the boundaries of many countries, uses different currencies, encounters different languages and meets different types of people. Typically international tourism involves longer distances although crossing small countries or traveling in international border environments may involve short distances.
